Dr. Hasan Moinuddin

Dr. Hasan Moinuddin is an institutional development and management specialist working currently on a freelance basis with multilateral and bilateral development agencies, non-governmental organizations and the private sector. He did his PhD (Dr.rer.soc) in International Relations/Public International Law from Ruhr- University Bochum, Germany, in 1984. He has been working in the field of development cooperation since 36 years and has field experience from countries in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Central America. He has been involved in projects requiring mediation and is a certified mediator receiving his certification from the Supreme Court of Florida. In the last decade, he has worked increasingly with agriculture and natural resources management projects. His focus of work has been on establishment of functioning community based natural resource management with wide ranging experience involving Community Based Natural Resources Management programs in countries of Southern Africa, such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, and Mozambique. Dr. Moinuddin has also worked as an institutional management consultant on restructuring of government departments as well as design and securing financing of complex programs.

Dr. Moinuddin has worked as a consultant for the Asian Development Bank, German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), now known as GIZ, and has facilitated design and evaluation of projects in developing countries. Over the years, he has carried out assignments for the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), International Labor Organization (ILO), Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), Swedish International Development Agency (Sida), and the World Bank as well as for organizations such as the World Conservation Union – IUCN and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). With the Asian Development Bank, Dr Moinuddin has been involved in forestry related projects and was involved in conflict mediation between ethnic minority groups and the Department of Forest in Bangladesh; has been project design team leader on the Forest for Livelihood Improvement Project in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam (FLITCH), was team leader in the design and development of the Biodiversity Corridors Initiative of the Greater Mekong Subregion, and the team leader of several loan and grant projects involving Cambodia, Lao PDR, Viet Nam and Tajikistan. Recently, he has participated as mentor at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York in Spring Courses for Masters and PhD students in Spring semesters of 2020 and 2021.
